PRIVATE THOMAS CHRISTOPHER GREEN

19th Pioneer Battalion, The Welsh Regiment

 

He was Born in 1886 in  Llangarron

In 1891, the family was living at Upper Grove Common, Sellack and his mother’s parents in Llangarron

In 1909 he married Clara who was born in Foy

In 1911, his was working as a labourer at Llandilo lime works in Carmarthenshire

In 1916 he enlisted in the Welsh Regiment at Ammanford, Camarthanshire and deployed to France

On 24th January 1917 he was killed in action, age 31

He is buried in Bard Cottage Cemetery, which is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission

His CGWC certificate of honour records he was the husband of Clara Green, of Nelson Cottage, Cilgwyn, Llangadock

He is commemorated on the Sellack and Llandeilo war memorials.
