5th Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry
He was Born in Ross in 1895
In 1911, he was a farm labourer at Caradoc Farm, Sellack
In August 1914, at the beginning of the war, he enlisted into the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry
In May 1915, he landed in France with the 5th Battalion which moved to dugouts near Ypres
In June 1916, enemy aeroplanes bombed their trenches which were shelled by artillery too.
On 15th June 1916, Private Weeks died of wounds at Frevent Casualty Clearing Station, age 20.
He is buried at St Hilaire Cemetery, Frevant which is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
His CGWC certificate of honour records he was the son of the late William and Sarah Weeks of Ross
He is commemorated on the Sellack War Memorial
