He was Born in Leominster in 1892
He was educated at Hereford Cathedral School and the University of Oxford
His father was the Vicar of Sellack from 1908
On 1st September 1914 he was commissioned into the Herefordshire Regiment
He deployed with his regiment to Gallipoli in 1915 and was Mentioned in Dispatches.
Temporary Captain A G R Woodhouse was Mentioned in Dispatches again during the defence of the Suez Canal from attack by the Turks in 1916
In 1917, his regiment were part of the difficult advance into Palestine which was eventually completed by December 1917
In the 1918 New Years Honours List, Acting Major Woodhouse was awarded the Military Cross which he received from the King at Buckingham Palace in July 1918
In June 1918, his Regiment was sent to Belgium
On 1st August 1918, he was Killed in Action, age 25
He is buried at Raperie British Cemetery, Villemontoire maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
His CGWC certificate of honour records he was the son of the late Rev George Whitehouse, Vicar of Sellack and Clara Whitehouse
He is commemorated on the Sellack War Memorial
